Further to our earlier messaging regarding obtaining EU equivalency certificates for operative f-gas qualifications, the Republic of Ireland has further extended the validity of UK issued certificates for a brief period of time.
The window of opportunity for engineers’ f-gas qualifications (City & Guilds 2079, BESA FGas, CITB J11, or LCL FGas) to be used to gain an Irish equivalent via the Irish Environmental Protection Agency is closing very soon. You can still apply through the EPA portal here, but the deadline is still for applications to be made by 30 April 2021, provided the UK certificate was issued and valid before 31st December 2020. There is no fee for this service.
The UK issued personnel qualifications will continue to be valid and recognised in the Republic of Ireland to an extended deadline of 30 June 2021, provided the certificate was issued prior to 31st December 2020 and remains in date for validity. This deadline has been extended due to the EU not having ratified the Withdrawal Agreement at their end yet.
Your REFCOM company certificate is not valid for company registration in Ireland at this time but REFCOM continues to hold dialogue with the Irish authorities with a view to becoming a recognised certifying body in the Republic of Ireland soon.
