F-Gas Company Certification
From 4 July 2009 it became a legal requirement for all businesses that install, commission, decommission, repair, maintain or service stationary refrigeration, air-conditioning and/or heat pump equipment containing or designed to contain F-Gas refrigerants to obtain an F-Gas Company Certificate. The Environment Agency have now taken control of F Gas Regulation enforcement, they are pro-actively checking business compliance. Refcom works closely with the EA to ensure better compliance and more effective enforcement.
As of July 2011 all businesses must hold a Full Company Certificate. If your business has missed the deadline, apply now for a Stationary Equipment Qualification Company Certificate (Full Certificate), before enforcement checks catch up with you. Refcom was the body Defra consulted with for advice on the creation of a company certification scheme. Whilst others have adopted the current company certification scheme, Refcom continues to maintain it's leading position in this sector, and has the vast majority of certificated businesses.
To obtain a Full company certificate, businesses must:
- Employ sufficient numbers of personnel holding a full personnel qualification to cover expected volume of in-scope activities; and
- Have the necessary tools and procedures for the personnel to carry out the in-scope activities that require certification
If you have not already applied for a Company Certificate you should do so immediately, without further delay. It is now a criminal offence to carry out the above activities without a Company Certificate.
